Can’t believe it has already been 6 years that we started to give to Kiva. Did you know there is a Kiva team in City of PG? This is a team of local PG-ers who have loaned out over $10,000 of micro loans to entrepreneurs. It is our way of helping to create community and opportunity around the globe. Kiva is a non-profit organization with a mission to connect people through lending to alleviate poverty.

Eventually we would love to see little microloans for entrepreneurs locally in Prince George and the Northern Region. Kiva makes it so easy with $25 investments at a time. If you’re interested in making this happen, let us know to put you on the list.

Partnerships matter as we grow our technology community. Organizing team was made up of people from ‪#‎SD57‬, Province of BC (CodeCreate), NDIT, local tech entrepreneurs, Innovation Central and of course our Live Work team.

In celebration of the ‪#‎HourOfCode‬, a global campaign to raise awareness for computer science education, up to 400 students aged 8 to 18 across BC were introduced to coding for free. ‪#‎CityofPG‬ was chosen as one of four cities to host one of the Code Create events.

Innovation Central Society, together with #SD57, the Province of BC, and UNBC hosted Code Create at John McInnis school on Dec 12.

24 volunteer mentors, teachers and coders came together to teach almost 100 kids how to code and build their own games. The high energy day was filled with laughter and creativity, curiosity and learning, and building blocks for the future.

Thank you to everyone who made this day possible! Please share and spread the word about the importance of computer coding for kids so that we can host more events like this in #cityofpg.

For those of you that missed this day, you can start coding at home with your kids (or ask your schools) via a few links like this:

The “Pay-it-Forward” mindset is infused into our hearts & business model.

When you invest in our services and programs, you’re not only growing your business, you are also helping to support entrepreneurs and youth in our community and developing countries.

One of our partners is KIVA.

We LOVE Kiva! To date, we have loaned to 56 business owners. With as little as $25 bucks, you can make a life-changing loan to an entrepreneur to help them create opportunities for themselves, their families and alleviate poverty throughout the world. What’s incredible is that once the loan is repaid back to you, you get a chance to loan it to another entrepreneur. It truly is the gift that keeps on giving!

Want to help us? You can actually join the team right here in Prince George! Click here to find out more.
