A letter sent to the BE THE CHANGE EVENT ATTENDEES:

I hope everyone is settling into the fall/winter season. There have been a series of things happening in the city that I thought you would be interested in so I have complied a list. Many of the past speakers are doing amazing things in the community:

NOV 17 – 26, 2016 – INSPIRING WOMEN AMONGST US – UNBC

There are a series of talks and workshops held by UNBC (all around town) that you definitely want to check out this week and next. Click here

NOV 26 – RESET BACK TO THE REAL YOU WITH LEE FOULDS – Health Coach

Lee is currently running a custom designed program that is to keep your health on track during the busy holiday season. It was designed for busy people in mind and it is a way to reset your body so that you can start making healthy choices. Click here for more info & to sign up

JAN 8 – CAPTURE YOUR JOY – Bobbi Carpino

Bobbi is once again running her very popular Capture Your Joy Camera Phone Course. Both her other 2 courses were sold out. Her next course is on Jan 8, 2017. Great holiday gift for you and a friend. Click here to contact Bobbi to sign up.

JAN 14 – IGNITE 2017 – Katy Suik & the Best Life Network

Katy and the team at Best Life Network are helping women in Prince George jumpstart 2017 with the 2nd Ignite – Your Life, Your Story, Make it Great event. There is nothing like an inspiring event to kick off your year. Invest a day and create your best year yet. Katy has offered the participants from our event a special code to get $30 off your ticket. Use the code “bethechange” (without quotes) when you purchase your ticket to get $30 off. Their event sold out last year too… so don’t wait to get your ticket! Click here to get your tickets

_________

And finally, there is a new funding & growth program for women who own more than 51% of their companies. If this is you, let me know and I will connect you! Access to capital to grow women owned businesses was one of the top priorities. The federal government has rolled out their support of women in business via this program. It is not a grant, but a loan. Let me know if you want more details.

I hope 2016 was a great success for you and if nothing else you learned some lessons you will take with you into the new year! Thank you again for attending the Be the Change event this past year.

With Much Gratitude,
Shauna Harper

Awesome to see all these community projects get grants today! Way to go City of Prince George.

Grant recipients for 2016 celebrate their success on the staircase in the Bob Harkins branch of the PG Public Library after this morning’s grant presentation — with Zelda Craig, Lyn Hall, Erica Hummel and Wendy Young.

It was very exciting to be a part of this inaugural event. As an associate to All Nations Consulting in Prince Rupert, we helped with the website, all the designs (invites, table cards, name tags, agendas) and marketing strategy. The best part of the entire project was being at the event and watching all the moving pieces come together. For the first time in the Northern Region, we were able to see a conversation that was led by the First Nations people. Shauna also had a chance to meet changemaker leaders such as Chief Bernie Mack, Chief Ellis Ross, Chief Joe Alphonse, and Chief Roger William! SO INSPIRING.

Here are some pictures from the N2N Forum in Terrace on Nov 5th. It was a powerful event that brought industry and First Nations together in a conversation led by First Nations people. Going through these pictures once again reminded me why this conversation is so important. Looking forward to bringing it to ‪#‎cityofpg‬ in 2016! (If you check out instagram, you will see a picture of the after party dinner that we had with all the Chiefs too!).

I can’t believe it has already been a year! Today was a big day not just for the studio, but also as I stepped into the position of Interim Executive Director of Innovation Central Society.

Live Work Communications will still be operating business as usual, but I am helping ICS bridge the gap as they find their next Executive Director. I could not do this without an incredible team(Chrystal & Katherine), cofounder (Mick) and studio partner (Bobbi). Also big thanks also goes to the forward thinking Board of ICS and our community partners such as David and Dan from Integris Credit Union.

There will be big news coming in the next few weeks and it will make more sense around why I have taken on this new position. But for now, cheers to 1255 4th Studio!

Happy 1st year Studio Birthday to us and the best studio partner, Bobbi Carpino Photography!#lovedowntownpg

As a City Of PG downtown business we are committed to growing‪ love downtown pg‬ culture. There is a momentum and energy bubbling up & can’t wait to share more soon. Check out this video (not sure who made it, sponsored by telus)… It gives you a glimpse of what’s bursting out of the hearts of downtown entrepreneurs . Although a few of the businesses in this video are no longer around, the spirit of what they stand for is still alive and strong. Proud to call this place home!

Awesome week! Not only did Mick’s movie launch, he got a call from New York’s Business Insider & his timelapse of the City of Prince George’s Canada Day fireworks is featured on their website. He’s going global folks! Congrats Mick! ‪#‎iheartpg‬ ‪#‎powerofsocialmedia‬ ‪#‎hypg‬ ‪#‎smallworldafterall‬ ‪#‎starlightfx‬

Hat’s off to the power of social media! Sharing his video on Facebook led him to this opportunity. Never underestimate where your posts, tweets, photos or videos can reach in today’s digital world.

Here’s the backstory of how the timelapse came to be: (From July 1, 2015)

We made our kids take a nap before seeing last night’s fireworks. When we tried to wake up Reese at 10:30pm, she rolled over and said “Just take some live pictures for me!” and went back to sleep. So this is what her daddy did for her … series of timelapse pics into this video. ‪#‎creativedad‬ ‪#‎heartspace‬

Super proud of Mick tonight at the launch of his movie! Love that our amazing community came out to support him too. The short movie “life in miniature” will be also shown from the main stage at Summerfest on Sunday and will be in the archive collection at the Exploration Place Museum. ‪#‎iheartpg‬ ‪#‎pgproud‬ ‪#‎hypg‬

For those of you unable to make it to one of the live venues, you can watch it here on vimeo. Make sure you turn up the sound. – SH

Here are Mick’s words from his Facebook page:

“Yesterday’s official launch of “life in miniature” at our private screening was overwhelmingly positive. I would like to thank everyone who showed up and supported my mini movie. For locals, you can see it on the big screen at The Exploration Place. For anyone else, here is the link to my vimeo page: https://vimeo.com/133062835

I’d also like to say a huge thank you to some truly amazing time-lapse photographers for their inspiration: Sean Collins, Rob Whitworth, Pau Garcia Laita, Michael Shainblum and thanks to Ben Canales for his inspiration and encouragement.

I also had a chance to thank and present a print to the local organizations and champions who made this possible: Doug from the City of PG, Tracy from Exploration Place, and also Dean and Darcy at Northern Electric.

This was five months of shooting and a month of editing. I hope you enjoy it!”
