Awesome week! Not only did Mick’s movie launch, he got a call from New York’s Business Insider & his timelapse of the City of Prince George’s Canada Day fireworks is featured on their website. He’s going global folks! Congrats Mick! ‪#‎iheartpg‬ ‪#‎powerofsocialmedia‬ ‪#‎hypg‬ ‪#‎smallworldafterall‬ ‪#‎starlightfx‬

Hat’s off to the power of social media! Sharing his video on Facebook led him to this opportunity. Never underestimate where your posts, tweets, photos or videos can reach in today’s digital world.

Here’s the backstory of how the timelapse came to be: (From July 1, 2015)

We made our kids take a nap before seeing last night’s fireworks. When we tried to wake up Reese at 10:30pm, she rolled over and said “Just take some live pictures for me!” and went back to sleep. So this is what her daddy did for her … series of timelapse pics into this video. ‪#‎creativedad‬ ‪#‎heartspace‬

Super proud of Mick tonight at the launch of his movie! Love that our amazing community came out to support him too. The short movie “life in miniature” will be also shown from the main stage at Summerfest on Sunday and will be in the archive collection at the Exploration Place Museum. ‪#‎iheartpg‬ ‪#‎pgproud‬ ‪#‎hypg‬

For those of you unable to make it to one of the live venues, you can watch it here on vimeo. Make sure you turn up the sound. – SH

Here are Mick’s words from his Facebook page:

“Yesterday’s official launch of “life in miniature” at our private screening was overwhelmingly positive. I would like to thank everyone who showed up and supported my mini movie. For locals, you can see it on the big screen at The Exploration Place. For anyone else, here is the link to my vimeo page: https://vimeo.com/133062835

I’d also like to say a huge thank you to some truly amazing time-lapse photographers for their inspiration: Sean Collins, Rob Whitworth, Pau Garcia Laita, Michael Shainblum and thanks to Ben Canales for his inspiration and encouragement.

I also had a chance to thank and present a print to the local organizations and champions who made this possible: Doug from the City of PG, Tracy from Exploration Place, and also Dean and Darcy at Northern Electric.

This was five months of shooting and a month of editing. I hope you enjoy it!”

As you know we are all about community building!

So when Carolyn from Two Rivers Gallery committed to yarnbombing 100 trees in the city for the Centennial Celebrations we raised our hands to help out. We were so proud of our tree until we realized how much MORE others were wrapping their trees… but that’s ok, the colours still make us smile when we walk out of the studio. Some times showing up is half the battle 🙂 .

Happy 100th Prince George. Looking forward to all the celebrations in the weeks to come.
